Code of Conduct
CODE OF CONDUCT
Intent: The Warrensville Tigers Youth Basketball Organization promotes good conduct by all participants including players, coaches, and parents. Appropriate conduct will provide a safe athletic environment, good role models and a sense of community spirit throughout the organization. Warrensville Tigers participants are to maintain and promote the highest standards of conduct at all times.
Everyone will:
1. Respect all players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators.
2. Respect the property of others including all gym facilities.
3. Not taunt, boo, or make negative comments about any players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators.
4. Remember that sports for children should be about having fun.
Players will:
1. Play for fun.
2. Work hard to improve skills, learn the game and play by the rules.
3. Follow coaches directions and instructions.
4. Always respect teammates, opponents, coaches and referees.
5. Support teammates at all times.
6. Shake hands with opponents after the game.
7. Arrive to games and practices on time.
Parents will:
1. Remember that children participate in athletics to have fun.
2. Remember that the game is for the children, not for the adults.
3. Remember that they are not the coach and will refrain from yelling instructions out onto the court.
4. Speak to the coach in private with any concerns and never in front of the children or on the court.
5. Will not question or confront coaches during or immediately after games or practices about concerns they may have.
6. Allow a 24 hour "cool down", be objective before discussing any serious concerns with a coach.
7. Be a positive role model by respecting all players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators at all times.
8. Contact the coach/team parent if their son will not be at a practice or game.
9. Cheer for all children on the team in a positive fashion, not just your own child.
10. Refrain from rude or obnoxious behavior or comments toward the opposing team and officials, and never confront referees or other game personnel.
11. Not encourage any behaviors or tactics that would endanger the health and well-being of anyone.
12. Serve a two game suspension if ejected from a game.
Basic Parental Responsibility:
“I will represent the Warrensville Tigers with my personal best efforts, never bringing embarrassment or an unfavorable view to my team, coaches, family, or community
Penalty:
Breaking the Code of Conduct brings restrictions and penalties may vary from a minimum of a one game suspension to dismissal from the organization. Parental actions may be grounds for removal of a child from the program.
Coaches will:
1. Teach fundamentals, and make skill development, sportsmanship, teamwork, fun and learning the game…the goals of the team.
2. Be a positive role model by respecting all players, coaches, referees, parents and spectators at all times.
3. Serve a 2 game suspension if ejected from a game.
4. Be as respectful and restrained as possible in response to calls by officials.
5. Never lose their temper.
6. Be fair, honest and consistent in coaching philosophies and practices.
7. Communicate clearly to players and parents about goals for the team and what behavior is appropriate.
8. Teach a motion offense
9. Arrive 30 minutes before games and have the kids stretched and ready to play.
1. The Warrensville Tigers require all parents, coaches, and players to acknowledge and agree to abide by the Code of Conduct during the duration of the season. As well parents are expected to ensure that their child/children understand and abide by the Code of Conduct.
2. The Warrensville Tigers does not promise to devote the resources to thoroughly investigate these incidents, nor do we promise to provide a "fair trial" before choosing to sanction a person that has developed a reputation of misconduct. It is simply more administratively efficient for the Warrensville Tigers to sever its relationship with the individual or individuals.
CONSEQUENCES FOR VIOLATING ANY OF THE ABOVE
A) Physical abuse violations will result in immediate and permanent dismissal.
B) A first violation will receive a warning and possible suspension handed down by the director. The board will review all infractions.
C) A 2nd Violation will result in the immediate dismissal from the organization. This 2nd violation will not have time limitations on the prior infraction. Infractions are cumulative and lifelong.
*** Any infraction/violation may be cause for immediate dismissal from the Warrensville Tigers Organization.
*** Any person found guilty of violating the intent, the spirit or rules of the Warrensville Tigers Organization Code of Conduct may be subject to probation, suspension or dismissal from the organization.
